A woman in a hot air balloon realized she was lost. She lowered her altitude and spotted a man in a boat below. She shouted to him, "Excuse me, can you help me? I promised a friend I would meet him an hour ago, but I don't know where I am."

The man consulted his portable GPS and replied, "You're in a hot air balloon, approximately 30 feet above ground elevation of 2,346 feet above sea level. You are at 31 degrees, 14.97 minutes north latitude and 100 degrees, 49.09 minutes west longitude.

"She rolled her eyes and said, "You must be an Obama Democrat."

"I am," replied the man. "How did you know?"

"Well," answered the balloonist, "everything you told me is technically correct. But I have no idea what to do with your information, and I'm still lost. Frankly, you've not been much help to me."

The man smiled and responded, "You must be a Republican."

"I am," replied the balloonist. "How did you know?"

"Well," said the man, "you don't know where you are or where you are going. You've risen to where you are due to a large quantity of hot air. You made a promise you have no idea how to keep, and you expect me to solve your problem. You're in exactly the same position you were in before we met, but somehow, now it's my fault."

That's BEAUTIFUL and a great way to end the week and begin the weekend!

What is the expiration date for Reagan being a saint? If you are a good or bad president you don't get to run away from what you did ever. This economic disaster will always lay at the feet of george bush.

Fri, 06/11/2010 - 15:18 — Pete2069

The democrats will continue to be known for their lack of guts and actions to get the job done.

In fact we democrats need to form a group to control and fund real democrat candidates and get rid of the Emanuel's , Clintons , blue dogs and centrists which are corporate own and are destroying our party..

Emanuel and his crew are running our party into the ground and we the democrats have no say in any d... thing they say or do..

Emanuel and Obama's Chicago's mob crime background is showing in their back room deals and BS..

Obama is the worst democratic vote I have ever cast..

http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2009/12/18/rahm...

.Emanuel stated.................
Turn off MSNBC. Tune out Howard Dean and Keith Olbermann. The White House has its liberal wing in hand on health care, says White House Chief of Staff Rahm Emanuel.

"There are no liberals left to get" in the Senate, Emanuel said in an interview, shrugging off some noise from the likes of Sen. Bernie Sanders (I., Vt.) that a few liberals might bolt over the compromises made with conservative Democrats.

funding candidates to run against real democrats..

I had no illusions that he was a progressive (neither was Hillary Clinton, BTW). They were both DLC corporatists.

On the other hand, I shudder at the thought of President McCain and VP Sister Sarah Palin. And I am grateful for my vote.

Fri, 06/11/2010 - 15:27 — Bonkers

Every frickin' day.

Amen and pass the peas.

(Palin and McCain my eye. Razzafrazza GOP idiots....)

Fri, 06/11/2010 - 15:40 — virtually0

He may be the worst and most deceitful Democratic President ever to occupy the office.

Fri, 06/11/2010 - 15:58 — mudshark

And disappointed? Didn't you pay any attention to the debates? I mean, it's all right there.
Maybe next time you'll pay closer attention.
But then again, he's still better than McCain/Palin.

Fri, 06/11/2010 - 17:07 — ronspri

I'm disappointed but not totally suprised by Obama. Sadly no prominent republican is any better and by in large, far worse.
It's a capitalist system so it is no wonder the biggest capitalists run it.
Big money picks the candidates.
I think we should have Ron Paul run for the Republicans and Dennis Kucinich for the Democrats. Let the new parties form as they will.

As far as when it isn't Bushs' fault? I figure we rightfully are owed at least as long as it was Clintons' fault. About 6 years as I remember.

Fri, 06/11/2010 - 18:24 — Rich H

is better than the "best" republican.

Now can we get a legitimate third party candidate going? It's going to be an uphill battle, the sooner we start the better.

Fri, 06/11/2010 - 15:16 — JohnnyBravo

I just stole your joke :-)

Fri, 06/11/2010 - 15:20 — Bonkers

Had to share it with as many people as I could. Very good.

Fri, 06/11/2010 - 16:07 — Bonkers

Your joke is killing.

"That's gold, Jerry! GOLD!"

Fri, 06/11/2010 - 17:08 — SadButTrue

..that's been going around tech support circles for decades. In the original the guy on the ground is a front line help desk agent, the guy in the balloon the befuddled user of some hardware or software item -- usually some incarnation of Windoze. Sometimes it played on the slogan, "Where do you want to go today?"

That is not to imply that it isn't a very good joke indeed. And Kudos to BaScOmBe on the nice recycling job.

Fri, 06/11/2010 - 17:18 — Bonkers

I figured it was likely recycled, but grateful to hear it for the first time anyway. Or more to the point, grateful that Bas was Johnny-On-The-Spot with the right joke.

Still, since I and most people I know aren't in tech support, it is doing well.

:)

For what he did while in office and what it caused? Yes!

Fri, 06/11/2010 - 15:16 — Barry

Whoever said Pelosi didn't have it in her? That was the perfect response to Weenie Todd's attempt at a good question. BAM!!!

Fri, 06/11/2010 - 15:19 — JohnnyBravo

that was excellent. You know what would have been better? If you had kept impeachment ON the table. You could have helped to DO SOMETHING about Bush's problems.

Just saying.

Fri, 06/11/2010 - 17:44 — bonsai pajamas

Yes, Nancy, you're a day late and a dollar short. And you have NO credibility. Zilch.

Fri, 06/11/2010 - 18:43 — Karyn

'............what would have been better? "

SPOT ON! Too bad she hasn't paid any attention to that.

It's the fact. He turned our country into Hell On Earth.

Fri, 06/11/2010 - 17:58 — Pete2069

This Is BS... Remember when Pelosi could have done something about Bush and Cheney ,,, Pelosi said impeachment is OFF the table and the stupid voters still voted her back into office her next run..

Kucinich filed a bill against Cheney and Bush with over 35 items for impeachment and Pelosi stated on a show ,,, that if someone show her a reason to impeach Bush she would..

I believe that many democrats where involved with the Bush/Cheney corruption and this is why impeachment and any enforcement of crimes against Bush , Cheney , Rumsfeld , Rove and the other criminals were not investigated and prosecuted..

The more I see the behind the scene shaded actions of the Clintons the more I believe they are no different than Emanuel and the other Clinton group which Obama has taken as his advisors and other administration positions..

Clinton also has really kiss the Bush's a... in the past 12 years..

Fri, 06/11/2010 - 18:27 — Rich H

Who knew?

Sat, 06/12/2010 - 01:57 — JamesR

pelosi was complicit with Bush the whole time. Her responce is typical denial. What a cant. replace the a with a U.

Sat, 06/12/2010 - 06:16 — Vacuus Deus

People need to catch on that the 2 political wings are not the Democrats and Republicans. Here's a hint don't think left and right...think upper and lower.

Fri, 06/11/2010 - 15:09 — kaylaspop

What is the statute of limitations on Chuck Todd?

Fri, 06/11/2010 - 18:03 — Pete2069

Is an arrogant a.. hole and proves you can still be an idiot and they will put you on a news show....If you push the BS they wish you to..

Shame he does not know what he wishes you to believe he knows..

Fri, 06/11/2010 - 15:10 — Stan Black

Exactly. Never let them forget Bush. We are still mired with his failures in leadership. Insane cycle of Republican fuck up and Democratic clean up.

Fri, 06/11/2010 - 15:14 — glogrrl

back to the tax percentages of the 70s will we ever be a prosperous nation again. Also, we need to get out of Iraq & Afganistan....then we'll be on the road to recovery.

Regardless of what Rethuglicans say, it takes money to run a country--education, infrastructure, safety--it's all supplied by The Commons...something the selfish piggy Rethuglicans want no part of. They just want to take their money and run..NOT run the country. It's true what they say: Rethuglicans are great at running campaigns, but lousy at running the country--unless they're running it into a ditch. They they're masters!

Fri, 06/11/2010 - 18:10 — Pete2069

believe the democrats have the ba..s to or really what to fight the republicans and corporations.

They are having their pockets stuff with political funds and jobs opportunities when ever they wish to..

Emanuel and the democrats are only recruiting , funding and supporting candidates which are wealthy or do any thing they are told..

Emanuel ... do not worry about the left , Progressives , Dean or Msn we have them under control..

Emanuel is one of the democrats worst enemies.

Emanuel runs the White House and the democrat party just like his Chicago Mob training and background gave him.

Fri, 06/11/2010 - 19:06 — glogrrl

only a Rethuglican would call it "the Democrat Party." It is
"The Democratic Party." You goons just never learn.

Fri, 06/11/2010 - 15:15 — LibertyLover

should be statute.... we don't need no stinking statues of George W. unless we erect them just to tear them down or throw shoes at...

Fri, 06/11/2010 - 15:17 — Blue Lensman

it would truly be a testament to the value of limitations on the unitary executive.

Or
Fri, 06/11/2010 - 16:15 — uglywolf
Fri, 06/11/2010 - 17:10 — SadButTrue

..that every town in America will someday have a statue of George W. Bush in a prominent location in the middle of town. It will be used as a public urinal.

Fri, 06/11/2010 - 17:21 — ronspri

Bush and Cheney weren't just corporatists, they are the corporation. The only thing the fearmongers have convinced me I need to fear is them.

Why
Fri, 06/11/2010 - 18:18 — Pete2069

Is Obama , Pelosi and the democrats AFRAID to prosecute Bush and his criminal administration..

Looks as if Obama and the democrats are not running this country ,, does it..

The Global Empire Monopoly must have the entire elected officials wrapped around their little finger...

The democrat party is starting to stink to high heavens and have sunk to the deeps of hell.

Used to be a bad democrat was better than a good republican and that was before they lined up on the extreme right.....Now the democrats controlling the democrat party are corporate h.....s

Fri, 06/11/2010 - 15:27 — John Hoffman

Former President Chimpy McStagger is doomed to a life and an afterlife as a punchline. He has been and will continue to be a gift to the Democrats that keeps on giving.

Fri, 06/11/2010 - 15:29 — RichStraightWhi...

...And when will we stop blaming the Japanese and Germans for WWII?

Fri, 06/11/2010 - 15:46 — Kreskin

Exactly. Good point.

Fri, 06/11/2010 - 15:49 — Kreskin

" I shudder " , Ditto that LL and right on Pelosi !It cracks me up , the country was handed all but totally destroyed to Obama , the Repugs have been obstructing , stirring up trouble and creating as much chaos as they possibly can from day one , Obama has only been in office a little more than a year and nitwits like Todd ask how long the Dems can keep blaming Bush ( and the Repugs ) for the state that the country is in ? Talk about a disingenuous and stupid question ! Amazing . I don't know which will take longer , to get this oil disaster under control and cleaned up as much as is possible or to recover from the Bush , Cheney , Repug disaster , the latter most likely !

Fri, 06/11/2010 - 15:44 — lex

But we are not connecting the dots. It is Conservatism which is to blame. Bush implemented a perfect Conservative Doctrine and it failed miserably. Conservatism is to blame for all the misery and destruction and unless we expose the real culprit, Conservatism will continue to destroy us. Just look around at the world today for all the proof you need.

Bush is gone but Conservatism is a very real threat to our Democracy and is still here.

Fri, 06/11/2010 - 15:48 — JerryO

Pelosi, you had the power to begin the impeachment process against Monkey-Boy. People were SCREAMING for it. But you did NOTHING but watch while him and Darth destroyed the country from within. Pelosi is as worthless as the Congress she presides over.

Fri, 06/11/2010 - 16:07 — Sierra Matt

Cheney must've had some REALLY good dirt on Pelosi to prevent her from beginning the impeachment process. Gotta love that Spy on Your Enemies Patriot Act!

Fri, 06/11/2010 - 15:55 — sixandseveneights

2 failed wars are still raging
more Americans are being added to the unemployment rolls
oil rigs are exploding

...may be a while before Pelosi can stop blaming Bush.

Fri, 06/11/2010 - 16:25 — chervilant

Too little, too late, Pelosi! The Bushco war criminals are STILL walking around free, enjoying the spoils of their hubris! Until and unless you greedy, dissembling pols push for the impeachment of all the war criminals, I won't have a lick of respect for you, and I will work hard to insure that you are NOT re-elected.

Oh, wait... how many of you voted FOR the illegal invasion of Iraq?!

sigh...

Fri, 06/11/2010 - 17:12 — Peter G

Everybody, well almost everybody, and certainly a very high percentage of posters here, know for a fact that it is all Obama's fault. Whatever the hell "it" is.

Sat, 06/12/2010 - 06:33 — CoIntelPro.Pron...

no doubt!

Fri, 06/11/2010 - 17:32 — Fish

We still blame Hitler for World War 2. So why would we not blame Bush for what he did. Republicans think there is a statute of limitations or something.

Sat, 06/12/2010 - 06:34 — CoIntelPro.Pron...

too!

Fri, 06/11/2010 - 18:03 — Phylter

...displays the same fearless integrity that boldly proclaimed "Impeachment is off the table!", after the 2006 takeover by the Democrats, who swept the elections for the specific purpose of ending the illegal wars of occupation, restoring the Constitutional rights raped from us by the Bush Junta, pursuing criminal investigations of their main players, Dumbyah included, and doing something about the looming financial collapse. Instead, she and her colleagues continued business as usual and did nothing at all that the people put them in power to do. The 2008 elections brought us the identical betrayals, with the added kick in the face to the liberals & progressives who put them there, and the wholesale abandonment of everything the same long suffering people voted hopefully to enable, like universal health care, ending the same illegal meatgrinder wars, and investing those funds in the citizens, the environment, jobs, education, infrastructure.

But Nancy knows that standing up and saying "We blame Bush for...."
is all that is needed to keep the sheeple in line, as the ruin of the nation accelerates, but the corporate-congressional-executive-judicial humpa-humpa continues unabated. We can't even "get the government's hands off our Medicare", which is on the chopping block of "deficit control", although "Defense/War funding" never is.

Thanks Nancy!

Fri, 06/11/2010 - 18:36 — not stupid

The newly elected democratic Obama president could not have the country involved in a criminal trial of bush while the country was in 2 wars, in dept, house mortgages crisis, bank crisis ,unemployed workers and on the verge of a big depression.
I have Scream at my TV so many time that bush, cheney should be in jail because of the invasion of Iraq. I came back from EU before the invasion, and knew it was a joke as you do not put all your armies on the boarder and then say you go to the UN. Somewhere in the back of my mind is that when the son(s) in law defected, they said that all the weapons given from Reagan’s( Rumsfeld) were destroyed.
It was long before w came in the presidency with the supreme court. Justice O Connor did cry that w did not win Florida, but made sure to give him the election.
I remember” The Watergate” and it never got anywhere because Nixon resign. PBS had all both Houses committees about Nixon’s if and when he knew of it? He was not involve in the break up but did cover up and lost his job.

Fri, 06/11/2010 - 19:32 — Phylter

...and prosecuting war criminals for their countless crimes against humanity is not a matter of expediency or convenience. Either we actually believe in all of our chest-beating hype about "justice",the Constitution, the Geneva conventions, & all the treaties we've signed regarding genocide and torture, or we don't.

Since the draconian powers created by Bushco are still in full effect, since we're still launching drone wars & killing people "on suspicion" that they might be terrorists, since we're still running our secret prisons, renditioning & torturing people, and have proclaimed the right to interfere and murder in any country we want, it's pretty obvious we don't believe or embrace those noble virtues we invade innocent countries to impose. Either the law applies to everyone, or there is no law.

To refuse to pursue these criminals is to abandon everything the US stood for. Pelosi & all the rest are all complicit in this. And for allowing them to do it, so are we all.
